VP of Operations
We’ve all heard stories about how American companies are pulling their manufacturing operations out of China for various reasons. The most common excuse is “supply chain issues,” a term which covers a multitude of problems… things like “my factory is 12,000 miles away” and “I don’t have much control because it isn’t really my factory anyway.” I could give you a list a mile long.
Too many manufacturers threw in the towel here at home and moved production overseas. It’s worked out well for some – but not so well for others. Then you have the handful of “hell no, I won’t go” individualists who stuck it out in the US; sadly, a lot of them couldn’t make it. I’m going to tell you about one who did… and made it big.
John Bassett of Vaughan-Bassett decided to make it work at home. Through innovation and technology, Vaughan-Bassett has grown to become the largest manufacturer of bedroom furniture in the United States. When everyone else called it quits, John Bassett vowed to keep his plants up and running.
It wasn’t cheap and it wasn’t easy. Since 1999 V-B has spent over $70 million on buildings and equipment and brought out dozens of new designs. Consumers like doing business with American companies, and 98% of all Vaughan-Bassett products are built in Virginia or North Carolina.
Vaughan-Bassett’s lumber is almost all cut within 100 miles of the factories and the company replaces every tree cut by planting four seedlings. Add in beautiful designs, excellent value and quality construction and you have an unbeatable recipe for success.
Bowen Town & Country carries an excellent selection of Vaughan-Bassett products. Come in soon and let us show you what our neighbors have built. We are located at 1910 Mooney Street, off Stratdford Road…near Hanes Mall.

Very true! If there’s a company that has stayed true to their heritage it’s Vaughan Bassett. My house is full of their product. Not only is it made in America, it’s made with American wood! While some companies are importing cheaper wood and assembling it in the US just so they can put a “Made in America” tag on their product. Vaughan Bassett is the real deal! Great post Keith. Thank you for supporting the companies that support our Country.
God Bless America!
Wow, thanks Douglas! We love Vaughan-Bassett!
